A LEEP is a very quick procedure that removes pre-cancer from the cervix.
Having said that, it would be lying to say that you will lie there calmly while we set things up! Most women have some anxiety while we do it and then afterwards almost everyone is incredibly relieved that it ‘wasn’t so bad’.
Setting up the LEEP takes about 5 minutes and the actual LEEP takes between 10 and 30 seconds. You feel a cramp while it’s happening, but it is a period-like cramp that lasts 10-30 seconds. And then its over!
