Jefferson County Workforce Center

The unemployment rate still remains high.  Many people struggle to make ends meet as they have lost jobs once thought to be secure or they have taken lower-paying jobs in order to just survive.  Competition is high.  We do have a great resource here in Jefferson County to help people of all ages and career stages in our community look for employment.

The Jeffco Workforce Center located in Golden can help anyone looking for a job.  One misconception about the center is that they only aid low-income people in their search for employment.  The workforce helps everyone including first-time job seekers, people making a career transition, those unemployed or under-employed, teenagers wanting to enter the job market, older workers, veterans, and more.  Many different services are available at no charge.

Everyone that enters the workforce center must register for their services at  Connecting Colorado is a website where you can look for a job, post a position if you’re an employer, post resumes, and more.  The site is part of the county and state’s system to aid community members with their job searching needs.  Once you have registered with Connecting Colorado, multiple services are available to you at the center and online.  Another service is Career Ready Colorado which is a program to certify your job skills giving proof to potential employers of your abilities.  You can earn actual certification at different levels to document your skills.

The center offers help with writing a resume, attending career workshops, taking assessment tests, research on growing industries, going to job fairs, and has many other resources for your use.  A huge room with a bank of computers and resources along with a knowledgeable and helpful staff are there to assist you with your job search.  A separate youth room accommodates those from 14-21.

The online and in-house resources available are tremendous, plus, if you’re needing assistance with more than just a job, the workforce center can connect you to services for housing, health care, seniors, childcare, food, disabilities, and other community resources.  There is such a wealth of information available at the workforce center that it’s impossible to mention it all here.

The Jeffco Workforce Center is located in the Laramie Building at 3500 Illinois Street, Suite 1600.  They are open Monday-Friday from 7:30-5:30.  The phone number is (303)271-4700 and their web address is  Stop by Sustaina Center for brochures or go directly to the center to get assistance in finding your next job!
